Jacob Holmes’ Story Behind Two, the Film on Infertility
I chat with Jacob Holmes, an independent filmmaker and videographer, to discuss his latest project. Jacob’s film, Two, produced by his company Eagle Eye Productions, focuses on infertility and the personal journeys of couples facing this challenge. It premiered in Teays Valley and at the Floralee Hark Cohen Cinema in Charleston.
Jacob shares that being an independent filmmaker involves unique challenges, particularly with funding and marketing. Despite a small marketing budget, he’s grateful for the support of his network, which has helped get the film shown at local theaters and covered by the news.
The movie depicts the struggles of infertility from a personal perspective, without religious or political undertones. It features four local couples and three doctors, including some based in Charleston. The inspiration for the film comes from Jacob’s cousins, who faced infertility struggles themselves, and their story forms the film’s central theme.
Jacob hopes the film raises awareness about infertility and its prevalence among ordinary people. He emphasizes that many people suffer in silence, and understanding this can foster empathy. Looking ahead, Jacob plans to take a break from production to focus on his business, Eagle Eye Productions, and the Horizon Foundation, a nonprofit he runs. He advises those interested in the film to follow updates on Eagle Eye Productions’ website, https://www.eagleeyeprods.com/ and sign up for notifications about streaming availability.
