Connecting Through Real Estate with Madeline McPhee

In this episode of the Kanawha Valley Hustlers podcast, I talk with Madeline McPhee. She’s new to real estate, just one year in, but already has ten listings in a week. She says the market is moving fast, with people eager to buy and sell.

Madeline came to real estate from a teaching background in Texas. She still works with students online but has transitioned into the family business, Riggs Commercial Realty, through her fiancé’s family. She says the skills from education transferred well and she’s found her place in the business.

We’re at the Clay Center for Up Next Charlie West’s First Tuesdays. Madeline tells me it’s her first time here. She saw it on Facebook and decided to come meet people. She’s already run into two other Texans, including Jamon, a previous guest on the show. She jokes that Texans are starting to take over West Virginia.

When I ask what advice she has for others trying to network, she says to show up, smile, and be glad to be where you are. She plans to come back to more events like this.

Looking ahead to spring, she’s focused on real estate. Whether helping someone buy or sell, she says she’s excited to serve people here the same way she served students.

I ask what it was like moving from Texas to West Virginia. She says it took some adjusting, but she’s found her groove and her home here. She tells me she’s grateful to be a West Virginian now.
