Why Video Works and How to Get Started
I walk through how easy it is to start using video for social media. You don’t need a big budget or fancy equipment. Your phone is enough. I create direct response video content for clients to help them persuade someone to take action. That might be registering for a webinar, booking a venue, or calling for more information. Video is the most effective way to do that. I believe in it, and that’s why I do it.
Some people still don’t see the value. They say they don’t get TikTok or Instagram, but then in the same breath talk about how much time their grandkids spend on it. That’s the audience you need to reach. You’ve got to meet people where they are.
I recommend two simple formats to start: hook and takeaway or Q&A. With hook and takeaway, start your video with a bold statement or question that grabs attention. Then deliver a useful takeaway that follows through on that hook. For Q&A, think about common questions you get in your line of work and record quick answers. You can get a whole month of content done in a couple hours using these formats.
You don’t need it to be perfect. Mess up and record it again. Nobody sees your mistakes. Use a tripod. Clean your background. Face a window for good light. Don’t put a window behind you. Use a lamp or ring light if you’re indoors. Sit up straight, speak clearly, smile, and use your hands.
Post a short 30-second video. See how it goes. If you want to go further, I can help with that. Whether it’s a full branding video or monthly content, I’m here.
