A Festive Chat with Santa at Light the Night
In this episode of the Kanawha Valley Hustlers podcast, I am at the GoMart Ballpark for the Salango Law, PLLC Dirty Birds Light the Night presented by GoMart, surrounded by the festive energy of the season. My special guest is none other than Santa Claus himself. As the iconic figure of Christmas, Santa’s hustle is as unique as it gets—delivering presents around the world on Christmas Eve.
I ask Santa what brings him to the GoMart Ballpark, and he explains he’s here for Light the Night, an event featuring 2.5 million lights. He’s making nightly appearances until December 23rd, after which he’ll return to the North Pole to prepare for Christmas Eve. Santa shares that his team of elves handles most of the toy production, freeing him up to focus on quality control, including the legendary task of checking his list twice.
When I ask if he takes vacations, Santa says he enjoys beach trips during the summer, hinting that kids might even spot him there. He assures me he’s approachable, even on holiday, a revelation that confirms my own suspicion about having seen him in Florida once.
Santa describes the awe-inspiring display at Light the Night. Though he hasn’t explored the field himself, he emphasizes how the lights must be seen to be believed. He’s stationed for photos and greeting visitors, keeping him busy throughout the event.
Toward the end, I ask about a crucial detail—Santa’s favorite treats. He reveals he prefers oatmeal raisin cookies and chocolate milk, a tidbit I urge listeners to pass along to their kids. Santa closes the conversation by wishing everyone happiness, health, and a Merry Christmas.
