Empowering Nonprofits Through Marketing with Kasidi Legg

In this episode of the Kanawha Valley Hustlers podcast, I chat with Kasidi Legg, a dedicated marketing consultant who’s passionate about supporting our community. Kasidi works with Kingery and Company at The Cottage at Northgate, helping nonprofits throughout West Virginia build capacity to make a bigger impact.

Kasidi explains that building capacity means helping nonprofits get the resources they need, like strategic plans, branding, and fund development. She mentions that nonprofits often face challenges being underfunded and understaffed. Her team helps these organizations become more attractive to funders and the community, making it easier for them to achieve their missions.

We discuss how marketing plays a crucial role for nonprofits. Kasidi emphasizes that it’s not enough just to do good work—people need to know about it. Her role involves developing brands and communicating missions, from social media to local media, so people in the community know about the services available to them.

Kasidi’s marketing background spans various industries, but nonprofits remain her favorite focus. Growing up in Charleston, she was raised with a strong sense of service, influenced by her mother, a social worker for Kanawha County Schools. For her, marketing for nonprofits is a meaningful way to contribute to her community, combining her passion for service with her professional skills. Recently, Kasidi was honored as the October Member of the Month by the young professionals’ group, Up Next Charlie West. This organization provides a space for networking and idea-sharing among Charleston’s emerging leaders, and Kasidi says she’s grateful for the recognition and the chance to continue her work.
